About Fermin

Fermin Eusebio Jimenez is an educator, U.S. Navy veteran, and longtime public servant running for the Sweetwater Union High School District Board of Trustees, Area 1.
Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, Fermin learned early the importance of education, opportunity, and community support. At 17, he joined the United States Navy, where he served as a Hospital Corpsman and developed a lifelong commitment to service. His military career brought him to San Diego in 2007, and after leaving active duty, he made the South Bay his home.
Fermin later continued his public service as a civilian employee supporting the military community before becoming an educator. His experience in the classroom has given he a firsthand understanding of the challenges facing students, teachers, and families, as well as the importance of giving educators the resources and support they need to help students succeed.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from San Diego State University and an associate degree in Paralegal Studies. He has continued his education through graduate-level work focused on Critical Literacy, Social Justice, and Dual Language education.
Fermin also serves as Vice Chair of the National School District Bond Oversight Committee, where he helps promote transparency and accountability in the use of taxpayer dollars.
He is running for the Sweetwater Union High School District Board because he believes every student deserves the opportunity to pursue their dreams. His priorities include improving academic achievement, supporting teachers and school employees, strengthening career and college pathways, improving school facilities, expanding community partnerships, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are managed responsibly.
For Fermin, public education is about more than preparing students to graduate. It is about giving young people the knowledge, confidence, skills, and opportunities they need to build a successful future and strengthen the communities they call home.
A life dedicated to service and leadership.
